Sex and the City

Posted by Hello

One of my favorite shows on HBO is Sex and the City, I just bought their final season on DVD. For those of you who watch the show know that each of the girls has a very interesting character.

Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) No one captures the lives of the lovelorn and the love-seeking in New York City better than columnist Carrie Bradshaw does. As fodder for her column, single and fabulous Carrie looks to the experiences of her best friends and her own. Never shying away from difficult or delicate subjects, Carrie has covered everything from emotional dependence to sexual independence. And somehow, through all her research and realizations, she's remained open to the possibility of finding love among the ruins.
Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall) Scintillating Samantha is a successful PR exec who knows what she wants - and most of the time, she gets it. She radiates confidence in everything she does, whether it's landing a star client, getting a table at the trendiest restaurant or bedding the hottest guy in a room. Samantha embraces her uninhibited sexuality with a diverse (and large) group of lovers, from wrestling coaches to power bachelors to a studly farmer. Forget wedding dreams; Samantha takes lust over love any night, and she's proud of it. Once, she even experimented with lesbian love, but when her "girlfriend" demanded more intimacy, Samantha knew it wasn't going to work out.
Charlotte York (played by Kristin Davis) Charlotte has a refreshingly optimistic outlook on love and romance amidst the ever-complex dating scene of NYC. Well-bred, she walks through life with a perfect sense of decorum. And a lot of idealism. For years, Charlotte had a crystalline vision of the life she wanted to have. First and foremost, she wanted to get married. She wanted true love. And she wanted her husband to be wealthy, handsome and belong to the social elite. Dr. Trey MacDougal seemed her Prince Charming, but her marriage was far from what she had hoped it would be.
Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon) Miranda is smart, self-assured and proud of her achievements. She raises the bar for herself continually, be it in her professional or personal life. She made partner in her law firm and was able to buy her own pre-war apartment on the Upper West Side (Take a look inside). However, she's struggled with her love life and, at times, abandoned the pursuit of love altogether. Tough and down-to-earth, she doesn't open up easily, masking her vulnerability with cynicism and self-deprecating humor. Throughout her long-term relationship with Steve, she had bouts of doubt about her true feelings and was constantly frustrated with Steve's laid-back approach to life.

So here is the question ladies and gentleman,
Ladies which of the girls you could relate to the most or you could see yourself as?
And guys which of those girls would you like to go out with?

Good morning Jelly Belladonna
Hope you're holding up now with your anti-smoking campaign.
As for your question, I have never been one to want to be fitted into a type or likened to anyone in particular. However, the only one that I could remotely relate to was Carrie Bradshaw. Now, why are you asking and who do you relate to? :)

ana all the way Carrie...ammmmmmmoooouuuut 3alaiha my hubby always says she reminds me of u...her style her personality the chaos... the last epsisode when she saw MR.BIG i felt as if me who saw him...

I like the show.. it has its funny moments. However on a personal note, happiness is never quite achieved, and it is evident in the end, when Carrie culminates her thoughts in narration.

It SEEMS positive, cause it sounds like she's achieved some kind of 'insight', when the truth is, her message is quite negative.

well, it's my opnion.

As far as who I would relate to the most, I'd say Charlotte, however, I think we all have a little of every woman in ourselves... a little carrie, charlotte, miranda, and samantha.

Kind of like The Breakfast Club, a breakdown of one's various personas put into indivual people. The Princess, the Bookworm, the Jock, the Basketcase, and the Troublemaker.

:-)

Tough question, but I would choose Miranda, not on looks but personality.

How come you did not include the gay guy :P?

Uhhh Purg? This is a girl's only post. ;-)

:) well you have the four lead ladies and Mister Big, plus the other guys that come go. Gay bald guy is around most of the time, so I am sure someone wants him :)

Jewaira: Sharazad, is your new name, you captive our attention everyday with your beautiful stories. (People I urge you to read her blog)
To update you on my smoking campaign is going well thank you, day four and smoke free…man I have to say I almost cheated today but I thought about it twice before going to the gas station.
And you ask me why am I asking you who do you relate to of all these characters…hmm..simply because I wanted to have a better visual picture of you guys in my head? Maybe :)
I could see you as Carrie but I was thinking of someone else in my mind ;)
I will let you know who I relate to the most, after everyone is done commenting ;)

nanonano: weeh tawa ma nawar al blog…6awaltay al `3aiba min zeman ma zereteene
So you are a Carrie…hahahaha…I kind of figured that out when you mentioned how much you love shopping in your new year resolutions ;)

muslim artist: welcome back to my blog hon….so you more of a Charlotte…how cute…but you are right we all have a little from all the ladies…and let Purgatory choose his lady or guy :P
coz I did ask the guys who would they go out with from all the girls ;)

Purgatory: I would’ve never guessed Miranda, very interesting.
As far as the gay guys, which one?
There is:
Stanford (the bald guy who’s always with Carrie)
And there is:
Anthony (who’s always with Charlotte and he thinks he’s the hottest Jewish gay in NYC) LOL, I just love him.

JB,

the bald guy as I am not a regular watcher of the show.

As for the choice, who did you expect me to pick? and why is my choice strange :)?

Ok! That does it! I have GOT to bring this to everyone's attention.

Next time you watch an episode of SITC, and all 4 girls are sitting around talking about something as graphic as genitalia, NOTE how Carrie will get asked about it, and she NEVER answers the question.

I noticed it on 2 occasions:

The episode where Charlotte's vagina is 'depressed', and she's given anti-depressants to insert, and then her galpals, to Char's horror, tell her to take a mirror and look at "herself" with it. Then Miranda and Samantha (who admit they have done this before) turn to Carrie and ask her if she's ever looked at her vagina in a mirror, and what is Carrie's response? A shrug, followed by Charlotte interrupting the scene, almost as if Carrie was 'saved' from answering!

The second time was tonight. Miranda, Samantha, Carrie and Aidan were at a bar, and once more, Samantha and Miranda bring up genitalia, only this time about men's balls. Then they turn and ask Carrie if she ever cared about the size of a man's balls, to which AGAIN she shrugs, and then immediately turns to Aidan and says "But I do care about yours, honey".

Whatever! this irritates me. Like Carrie is "too pristine" to answer questions about genitalia? What, it's going to 'lower' her to say "Yes, Ive looked at my vagina in a mirror", or "I do/dont care about the size of a man's balls".

Little hypocite.

I promise I will reply to the comments soon ;)

Hey how in the hell did I miss this post, it must have been while I was away, and here it goes:
I love this show actually it's my favorite, and you know what I have a male friend that thought that me and another three friends (we used to always hang out together) resembled the four characters; one of us actually looked like Sarah, another one which was shy and a bit reserved he thought of her as charlotte, and my cousin whom actually has a lot of Miranda's character, and me? Well you guessed it by now :)

Oh my gad , this tv show is great is the best one , I am in love carrie since I was 35 years old , I need buyviagra for sex but I would like to meet her , my dream is carrie.
