Are you a half?!

This weekend I met 2 Kuwaiti girls who were visiting a friend of mine…they were both half Kuwaitis…one of them is half Bahraini and the other one is half American and the girl they were visiting is half Palestinian…I was thinking to myself I know a lot of half Kuwaitis…I mean in my family alone I have 3 uncles and my dad who are married to non-Kuwaitis…a German and an American, a British and Bahraini (my mom) and through out the years I met so many half Kuwaitis…it makes me wonder how many half Kuwaitis are out there? I also wonder if there are other bloggers who are half?
Another question I wanna know if there are still young Kuwaiti men who marry non-Kuwaitis? I mean I understand that’s a personal choice and I totally respect that but sheno al3aib eb banat al Kuwait? Ok maybe I know the answer to that but I would like to read your answers.

am kamel eldasam ;)

LOL that was funny Purgy ;)

Booma is half Kuwaiti ;D

Gigi, evasively

Im a half breed too

Half man half balls..all Kuwaiti

Am 4 breeds in one

Since no one answered your main question, I will.

I don't think marrying foreign women has anything to do with kuwaiti women, it's simply ni9eeb.
Besides, kuwaiti men lose nothing in marrying a foriegner, unlike kuwaiti women.

Pure old fashion full creamer here..

I think im full..

Does Zubair count as foriegn ?
;)

Getting married depends on where you live and who you meet.. unless its arranged

bas wala sounds fun having such diversity in your family..

I'm 1/2 and 1/2. Most of the people I grew up with in Kuwait were also 1/2 and 1/2. I think in the 1960s and 70s a lot of Kuwaiti men were sent to other countries for college, and women generally were left at home. Now more Kuwaiti women are also sent away for college. And it seems to me that arabs like to stick together (as do members of each ethnic group). So, I think Kuwaiti men are more likely to hook up with Kuwaiti women, even when they are in a foreign country. So, I think mixed marriages will probably decrease. But this is just my guess.

I'm wondering now if I know you, or one of your cousins anyway. You're close to my age, and the American/European women in Kuwait often got together, dragging us "kids" with them.

iam not half but i know a lot in my family who are married to forgin girls.
i believe they choose those girls because they actually had the chance to have a clean friendship relation with those girls and allowed them to knwo them better not by fixed marrige and the storyies that we here girls do to guys.
i believe this is the main reason for a kuwaiti guy to marry a non-kuwiati.
he can be a friend with her without 3oqad and we9akha and he can be him self more .

with all the respect al kuwaitiaat wayed wayed wayed have too many skinsss and they change in a sec. ... they r insecure.

well I'm 1/2 1/2 and my fiance is 1/2 1/2.

I know alot of young guys who are marrying americains or british women because 1 there is no mahar, they are less fussy and they aren't as stuck up.

I agree with shosho .. naseeb ;)
& I wouldn't mind marrying a non-kuwaiti or a half kuwaiti for that matter ..
myself, I'm all kuwaiti, but very 3ajamoo.. lol .. does that count! ;)

GiGi: no wonder I liked her ;)
But what's her other half?

Bo Jaij: hmmm I think your all "balls" :P

Jewaira: ooh how interesting! My mom is half too...so I guess that would make me 3 in one?

Shosho: I think it has to do with ne9eeb and other things too...like the point ananyah mentioned with mahar...I mean banat alkuwait ask a lot out of a guy...I remember in my cousin wedding, the first one in the family sort of to have a big wedding...when my American and German aunts attended the wedding as a joke they demanded to have some money coz they had simple weddings comparing to my cousin and my uncles reply was that's one of reasons why we married you! LOL

Don: another Kamel eldasam ;)

مبتدئ : sorry I don't think zubair qualify as foreign...A good portion of Kuwaitis are Zebara..fa 7awel maratan okhara...LOL
But yeah growing up in my family was pretty interesting and I must say I am close to my half cousins more than the others...I guess we connect more in some sort of level!

Sarah: that's a great observation, no wonder there are so many half Kuwaitis out there ;)
and yes maybe we did meet…coz I remember going to my American or German aunt and I'll be seeing their friends and their kids...don't forget Sarah "alkuwait e9`3aira."

nooni: wallah ya nooni I think these days a lot of girls meet guys through different ways and start relationships with them...it may not be open comparing to other societies but they do exist…although I understand what you are trying to say :)

ananyah: I have always wondered if 1/2 Kuwaitis get along with other 1/2 more...I mean in the case of you and your fiancé for example...
And I do agree with you some girls need to understand that a guy can't give everything the girls ask for when they first get married...I wish they understand ina ehoma sharyeen alrayal mo efloosa!

MrsBakerQ8: hahahahaha, yes there sure are a lot of us half breeds out there, o Bahraini grandmother ba3ad wow ;)

QBL: what are you laughing at...your a half too :P
And you marrying a foreigner hmmm I can't see that...I mean maybe in the past but not now...I could picture you marrying someone from al khaleej but not any where else...you're infected with the "Khaleeji Virus" LOL.

So we have about 4 bloggers who are half…I guess I’ll add you to my list of half friends ;)

Peach: that doesn't count...3ajamo or not you are Kuwaiti and that's how I see it :P
and about marrying a non-Kuwaiti that's a big issue...I mean think of it of this way your kids will be losing a lot of privileges if their father wasn't Kuwaiti...I'm not against it but I wish the laws in Kuwait and in the Khaleej in general change and women could have the same privileges as men...I hope one day Kuwaiti/Khaleji women could marry any man they want and their kids could have the choice of citizenship...I think that's a whole other post to be discussed! Stick to Kuwaiti for now :P

if the kingdom of Zubair counts then i'm not full..any way your main question

nanonano: I'm sorry alzubair doesn't count hahahahahaha..and about your friends who married non-Kuwaitis are their kids facing any problems, in terms of their rights? My mom has a very close friend who married a lebanese but since she's from the royal family in Bahrain she's not even allowed in her own country! It drives me crazy how some men think it's ok for them to marry from other countries and when a Khaliji women does it she has to go through a lot of red tape to get simple rights for her and her kids!

o it9adegeen ya nanonano ma3da omey 3arabeya o khaljeya bas she had a hard time when she first came to Kuwait.

sheesh u make it sound like an insult being Kuwaiti lol ;) naseeb is naseeb whatever nationality & whatever the law says ;)

Peach: sorry honey I swear I didn't mean it that way,
I was talking more about the problems Khaleji women face for marrying non Khalejies that's all..and I do believe in ne9eeb..ma7ad yaketh eb hal denya `3air ne9eeba :)

lol honey I know what u meant ;) it's just me pulling ur leg ;P

Peach: ooh 3ad legaity wa7da eb ser3a it9adeg :PPPPPPPPP

الصج الزواج بروحه صعب..بعد الواحد اييب له شئ يصعبه زياده

nanonano: wenty al9aja...I don't know how hard it is since I'm not married yet but I could only imagine!

JB,

I am half Kuwaiti, And I like it like that.

And never imagined my MOM a kuwaiti lady.

True Faith: oh another half blogger...wansa there are more than I expected wallah...honey I totally feel the same way..I would never ask for a better mom than my mom (al7emdallah)
I never imagined having a Kuwaiti mom either...I love my mommy with her cute Bahraini accent ;)

pure bred

I’m fifth breed, but my parents are both Kuwaiti. Does that count?
If it does, then I guess that makes me international LOL

Sounds interesting coming from more than one 'ethnic' background. You guys must feel... unique!

Have you noticed how 'halves' are more likely to marry non-Kuwaiti's or other halves as well? They follow their parents' paths in that. ;)

am a half :}

Jelly Bean, read Rabab’s post “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. It’s a good one & I think it’s important that u read it & benefit form it ;)

U know they say kids from mixed marriages are more beautiful?

I had a roommate in college who was half Japanese, half Mexican.....talk about a weird mix!!

I have to add that the reason Kuwaitis are generally better looking than other Gulf citizens is because of the "melting pot" effect of having so many different nationalities and origins intermarrying.. That's why we have white, blue-eyed Kuwaitis as well as black Kuwaitis and every conceivable shade in between.

It's called تحسين النسل

mosan: Kuwaiti ga7 haa? :P

bora bora: I'm for all happy marriages too whether he/she decides to marry a Kuwaiti or non-Kuwaiti...I hate to see some couple who are very un-happy with their marriages and they only did it to please their families...I mean if you think of the divorce rate in Kuwait these days is just crazy.

vintage: that's my point if he/she decides to get married to non-Kuwaiti they should think of their partner and how their kids we'll live...you have to calculate these things really carfully. I respect your opinion...intay tenthameen 7ag fe'at "dehina eb mekbatana" ;)

Rabab: you out did Jewaira...hahahahaha...mashallah 5 in 1...ooh now I really wanna know the mix in your family ;)

suvai: hmmm unique! I do know if I feel unique...I mean my mom is "khaljeeya" and I think that's not a huge difference but what I love to hear is the comments about Bahrain o ahal al Bahrain mostly 6aibeen and I like to think I got 6aibat ahal alBahrain :P
and about "halves" getting married to non-Kuwaitis or other halves...well it all goes back how comfortable they are with other people...because in some level I feel more secure with someone who is half...we can relate more on many things :)

QCG: wohoooo another half...wow we should have a half blogger community of some sort...LOL

Peach: I will read it, thanks hun :)

QBL: you know why you're getting better coz since you moved to the east coast you only met and made friends with non-khaleejis..not like when you were here :P
but I still think you'll end up with a Khaleeji...LOL :P

Q: oh yes, I think my cousins who are half German, American, British are so darn cute...hahahahhaa...I wouldn't include myself :P
and about your roommate, that is a weird mix...but I bet he/she looked cute ;)

Zaydoun: that's true...I have seen a lot of cute mix guys and girls in Kuwait o inshallah yet7asan al nasal in terms of "height" too we need more tall men :P

jelly well yah we get along.. thing is we are too alike, we talk the same, think the same and act the same, we even say the same things in the same way at the same time... kinda freaky but I feel that if you are with a full kuwaiti they wouldn't take your other 1/2 into consideration, but if something bad happens they will automatically say.. yah its because she is 1/2 british or american oo blah blah... well I get that anyway lol

and about i wish they understand ina ehoma sharyeen alrayal mo efloosa! my fiance is still a student, he ain't rich & I don't want him to be, I don't want a mahar and I'm gonna work until I'm old cause I'd probably get bored being a spoilt housewife lol whereas all my friends want at least 40,000KD for a mahar, they go to University but never want to work, and will only marry from the elite rich guys.. which is totally materalistic of them.

q: I'm a weird mix... my mom is french/lebanese/german who was born and bred in UK, my dad is kuwaiti/british. I have grey/green/blue eyes which change colour depending on the weather and what colours I wear... I think I'm an alien lol

ananyah: allah yekhalelkom 7ag ba3ath 7abebty o yetamem 3ala khair inshallah...yalla when is the big day? we'll throw you a little bachelorette blog party ;)

and mashallah ananyah what a mix...so your dad is a half and your mom is hmmm a half? wow..that's just amazing...you alien...naaah ;)

Hi everyone am looking to get married to a Kuwaiti girl, I am half breed as well, half Kuwaiti and American cheese head
